Arts in Action

Arts activity gives life-enhancing direction for people in the early stages of dementia, as the creative part of the brain can remain undamaged for years.

"Engaging with the Arts can maximise aspects of cognitive function’, empowering people with dementia and enriching life for theand those around them" Dr Natalie Ryan, MRC Clinical Research Fellow at the Dementia Research Centre, Institute of Neurology, University College London.
Artistic stimulation
  • provides instant relief from the stresses of memory loss
  • elevates mood
  • re-energises through social interaction
  • helps to restore sense of self
  • creates quality time for all affected by dementia.

Arts 4 Dementia offers and signposts weekly tours, workshops, performances, courses and adventures in Art and Design, Music and Dance, Poetry and Drama, Film and Photography, Gardens and Heritage, for people with memory loss, their families and carers. Arts 4 Dementia currently operates around London, but signposts arts opportunities for people in the early stages of dementia and their carers nationwide.
