Monday 19 May is #FreeYourMind Day
In our first national campaign, Arts 4 Dementia is calling on people all over the UK to bring family, friend, partner, neighbour or colleague with dementia to an arts event - the theatre, a gallery, a concert, the ballet or to a gig - and to act creatively together - to reawaken their artistic interests with arts workshops.

From struggle to exhilaration - have fun with your loved one, and see them "light up"!

Engagement with the arts maximises cognitive function, the energising effects can last for days! We know!*

Artistic engagement enables families to override stressful symptoms, live better with dementia, revive skills and enjoy again a fulfilling life in the community. Even when short-term memory is going, creative skills can remain vibrant.

As a part of Dementia Awareness Week (18 – 24 May), Arts 4 Dementia’s #FreeYourMind Day is spreading the message of the huge value engagement with the arts can bring to people living with dementia, especially in the early stages - and inviting you to participate with your loved one.
Film or Photograph yourselves enjoying your artistic experiences out together.
Pick up leaflets at arts venues and libraries about community events you can join in.
At home, draw, photograph, paint, sing, play together - and come back for more.
