REAWAKENING, Dorset's first arts and heritage festival for dementia continues 27 MAY - 3 JUNE:

SUNDAY 28 May         MORETON 6-7 PM  "Songs of Praise" after all day flower festival - see Sir Laurence Whistler windows at St Nicholas Church DT2 8RH.

50 events began on Monday 15 May with the first NADFAS talk and tour for dementia (Arts 4 Dementia - A4D) in Dorchester, woodworking and woodcarving at the Countrymen's club in Sherborne, Shakespeare's Othello at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis, the first of a series of Dementia Friendly Woodland Walks at Hardy's Birthplace,the first of a series of guided tours of St John the Baptist church at Bere Regis (interesting architectural features and links with King John & Thomas Hardy) a book group and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra trio in Poole, and Reminiscence in Verwood.

Tuesday offered: Marc Yeats "Forget Me Not" choral installation at Dorset County Hospital, A4D Reawakening Choir and Organ workshop at St Peter's Church and A4D drama at Arts University Bournemouth, in Bournemouth, gardening at Kingston Lacey, community singing at Coda Music Centre in Christchurch.

Wednesday offered a day of taster sessions in stone carving, woodcarving, basketry, claymodelling, textiles at Dorset Centre for Creative Arts in Dorchester (also Thursday), fascinating history walk at Lyme Regis, poetry and music recital at Max Gate (NT), Dorchester, organ recital at Sherborne Abbey.

Thursday - National Memory Day - offered Melodies for Memories at Chickerell and in Christchurch, Wellbeing Walk with the RSPB, A4D costume talk and art workshop at Dorset County Hall, Singing for the Brain at Sherborne, a reminiscence and textile workshop in Poole, Artisan Studio arts workshops in Branksome, "Bitter Sweet Harmon" community singing at Alderney Manor Social Club, dance class in Poole, organ recital at Christchurch Priory.

Friday offered dance at Pavilion Dance South West in Bournemouth, creative arts workshops in Parkstone, jazz at Shaftesbury Arts Centre, "Meet a Moth" (also on Saturday) at Durlston Castle, reminiscence at Weymouth Library, artist Jenny Dutton's "The Dementia Darnings" at Bridport Arts Centre.

Tomorrow, Sunday, are two free concerts, with Dorchestrat at Sunning Community Hall and Sherborne Community at Digby Hall.

NEXT WEEK 39 more arts events for dementia around Dorset - and on Tuesday in Bournemouth two A4D projects have provied so popular that workshop leaders are holding extra events and invite participants to sing and play the organ at St Peter's 11am-1pm (Music at St Peter’s Church) - and to act with Arts University Students at the acting studios, Paviliion Theatre.  For both, please email veronica@arts4dementia.org.uk or phone 07713 636381)
